How live cam sites work: tokens, public rooms and private shows

Live cam sites are platforms where performers stream from their own rooms and viewers tip, chat or pay for one-to-one time. CamTrends is not one of those sites. We index who’s live across partner program data feeds so you can browse in one place, then continue on the cam site for the actual show.

All performers shown on CamTrends are 18 or older. Age checks and record-keeping happen on the cam sites; we only list feeds from those programs.

Public rooms

In a public room, anyone on the site can usually watch the stream and read chat. Viewers tip with the site’s currency (often called tokens or credits) to request attention, goals or menu items the performer posts. You do not need a private show to watch a public room, but features and pricing differ by site.

Tokens and credits

Most large cam sites use a prepaid balance:

  • You buy tokens or credits on the cam site (not on CamTrends).
  • Tips, menu items and some interactive toys spend that balance.
  • Private and group shows often bill per minute or as a flat start fee plus time.

Exact prices change by performer and site. On CamTrends, platform hubs summarise how each partner’s currency works from feed and published program data — as a data sheet, not a scored verdict.

Private, group and exclusive shows

When a performer starts a paid private (or similar), the public stream may close. That’s normal. Our private shows category groups models whose profiles or feeds mark private-friendly shows; a separate live status filter means “in a private right now.” They answer different questions.
